Happy birthday, USA!

We Dubs are all about tradition. This Fourth of July, like many others, we stopped by Nana and Papa's house for some patriotic cheesecake.

Then we proceeded to Bedford for that city's 4thFest.

We love going to Bedford on the 4th because of the great atmosphere: lots of families and activity all around.

Soon after arriving, we dug into the Popeye's chicken we had brought for our picnic.

Then it was time to relax! I kicked back, and this was my view.

Katie explored the playground, reminding us of the days when both kids would play for hours before the fireworks.

The car show was cool--as usual:

Brett and I took a walk along the lake,

and we all had plenty of time to veg.

Then the heat started to affect us:

We took a break to check out the food vendors:

And we discovered a new love: Rita's Ice. Oh my GOODNESS! So good.

We listened to the band.

But finally, FINALLY, 10 p.m. rolled around, and it was time for fireworks:

Honest to goodness, old-fashioned family fun. Needless to say, it was a BLAST!
